Mark Stevens of the European Union Observer Mission, says his body is impressed with the processes leading up to the December 7 polls although they wish for an amendment.

Mr. Stevens stated there was need for parliament to amend the law governing Ghana’s election process C.I. 94 to give ample time and offer the Electoral Commission (EC) some flexibility to resolve issues and challenges which sneak up on the commission.

Failed presidential aspirants aggrieved about their disqualification beseeched the High Court to be reinstated enabling three more nominees to join the earlier 4 vetted.

The European Union (EU) officer noted his agency was in Ghana to observe and file a report and not directly interfere in the country’s election stressing they are partnering Ghanaian election stakeholders to enable the 2016 election meet international standards.

National Coordinator of Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO), Albert Arhin for his part on Ghana Television’s ‘Talking Point’ show asked the EC to be proactive and update stakeholders abut stages of their election preparedness to ward off suspicion.

He was however delighted that checks he’s made showed ballots for parliamentary nominees had been printed in 2 weeks adding he was sure given the relatively low numbers, the presidential nominee ballots can be printed in a week allaying fears the EC wouldn’t be ready to organise the December 7 polls.

He urged the EC to do well to keep stakeholders and the electorates posted on happenings so as to carry them along.
