The newly elected National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has been sworn into office.

She took the oath of allegiance and the oath as a member of Parliament administered by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Ewurabena Aubynn's swearing-in has increased the NDC's strength in Parliament to 184 seats, with four independent MPs, while the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) now holds 86 seats.

However, before her scheduled swearing-in ceremony, the Minority staged a walkout in response to what it describes as “serious irregularities” that marred the recently held parliamentary rerun in the constituency.

“We cannot legitimize what we believe was a flawed and compromised process,” Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh said, just before leading colleagues out of the chamber in protest.

The NPP’s walkout  did not hinder the swearing-in ceremony, which was graced by dignitaries, underscoring the significance of the event.
