A family in the Ashanti Region has threatened to close down the Ashanti Region head office of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) over non-payment of rent for three years by party executives.

The aggrieved family first visited the premises on Friday, November 20, 2021, and disrupted an ongoing TESCON meeting claiming the NPP have refused to pay their rent for the past three years.

The family on Monday, November 22, 2021, returned to the NPP head office in the Ashanti Region when some members of the New Patriotic Party were addressing the media on the same issue.

Speaking to Joy News, one member of the aggrieved family said it is not true that members of the family begged the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman, Chairman Wontumi, for a place to live.

According to the family, the building belongs to them and they have every right to take back their property if they notice that there has been a breach of contract.

Members of the family also indicated that the building is not properly cared for and maintained by the Ashanti Regional NPP executives.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Regional Communications Director for the NPP, Kwesi Kyei, stated that lawyers of both parties will meet to address the situation.

"The lawyers who stood in defence of both parties will surely come out with their statement,” the Ashanti Regional Communications Director said.
