A Political Science Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr. Ansah Koi has observed that great advances have been made in the Fourth Republic.

He however was quick to point out on the ‘Talking Point’ show that Ghana’s experience is different from any other country noting that the country must own its own democracy aware of the cultural needs of the people.

He noted, countries like Japan and Germany grew their democracies, institutions and unique culture identities after the Second World War adding Ghana needs to build on its framework and strengthen its structures.

He lauded the practice where chiefs are consulted before certain government appointments are made as it ropes in varied organs of society to make informed choices.

Dr. Ansah Koi called for intense citizen education regarding the voting procedure saying the number of wasted votes must be curtailed noting the era of nominees being voted for because of handsomeness, height and skin colour should be considerations of the past.

Statesman, K.B Asante contributing to the discussion, stated that Ghana was on course citing the holding of elections conceding however that politicians do tell lies, some truths while making unattainable pledges which voters know they wouldn’t fulfill.

He called for the wrongs to be corrected so the state can advance even further.
