Suspended national chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Paul Afoko has stated that he was removed  because he sought to bring many reforms to the party, especially in how it's finances were being run.

In an interview with Africa Watch magazine, the Mr Afoko revealed that while his administration met a paltry Gh¢89 in the official account of the main opposition party, a separate account being run by loyalists of the  party’s flagbearer Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the time had about $48,000 which he deemed unacceptable especially because the funds in the unofficial accounts were not being properly accounted for.

Afoko, who was suspended alongside the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong and Sammy Crabbe, a national vice chairperson, said Akufo-Addo failed to back him hence the acrimony which grew between him and the national executives of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition, starrfmonline reported.
