President John Dramani Mahama says the Tema Integrated Industrial Park (TIIP) will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs while opening new opportunities for Ghanaian manufacturers, engineers, technicians and entrepreneurs.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the project on Tuesday, June 30, the President described the industrial park as a major investment in Ghana’s workforce and future economic growth.
He said the 120-hectare facility, located within Tema’s heavy industrial area, will serve as a world-class industrial ecosystem supporting manufacturing, aluminium processing, warehousing, logistics and export-oriented production.
According to President Mahama, the project will stimulate private investment, encourage technology transfer and strengthen local supply chains while positioning Ghana as a gateway to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
“When completed, the park will generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs,” he said.
The President stressed that government would invest in technical education, vocational training and digital skills development to prepare young people for employment opportunities expected to emerge from the industrial park.
He said industrial parks under the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme would operate as centres of continuous production and export activity, helping to expand Ghana’s industrial capacity and create sustainable employment.
President Mahama added that the success of Ghana’s industrialisation agenda would ultimately be measured not by the number of factories constructed, but by the quality of jobs created and the opportunities made available to future generations.
