It was meant to be a merry occasion, when Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency, Inusah Fuseini launched his campaign proper, but some constituents are outraged at the sum given to ‘Oya Chop Kiss’ singjay, Shatta Wale for a reported 30 minute performance at the launch.

GH¢150,000 or 1.5 old billion cedis is the reported sum Shatta Wale earned when he perform at the Tamale Jubilee Park alongside rising music star, Fancy Gadam.

But the constituents will have been even incensed if their incumbent MP who is also seeking re-election paid the GH¢200,000 charge Shatta Wale originally demanded.

Even with the GH¢150,000 payment, it was enough to push vigilante group in Tamale, Aluta Boys, to seize a vehicle of the MP registered as GN3625-14.

The following are some of the sentiments of the constituents:

“How can you just take 1.5 billion old cedis to go and look for a southerner to perform at your campaign launch meanwhile he is not in your constituency?”

“When you take 1.5 billion old cedis to your constituency and share it among especially those who cannot afford a daily meal, they will thank God.”

“Honestly we have to chase for at least ten of their cars and seize them because what they have done we can’t buy it.”

“How can you pay 1.5 billion old cedis to an artiste to just come and perform when in your constituency there are so many untouched issues?”

“I mean these politicians are really taking us for granted and we the youth in Tamale central are very angry with this thing.”

“Indeed, if this 1.5 billion old cedis you were going to share it among musicians in the north, you can imagine what is going to happen to the northern music industry, we are ashamed of him.”

Shatta Wale’s camp meanwhile released this statement regarding his mounting Hon. Inusah Fuseini’s platform to perform:

“In times like this when the political climate is about to be heated up, we need to intensify our campaign for peace. For this reason, Shatta will take advantage of any stage presented by any political party or movement to preach peace and stability in the country before, during and after the election. However, he will not endorse any political party or its candidate but rather preach peace. That was what we did in Tamale over the weekend.”
