With the meaning of political party slogans occupying the minds of some observers, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) campaign coordinator and former spokesperson for party founder, Jerimiah John Rawlings, Kofi Adam was asked what his party’s ‘Eye Zu, Eya Za’ meant.

According Kofi Adams, the slogan emerged from the Western Region implying ‘Let’s Come Together’ adding it emanated from the Nzema area although he’s not quite sure which particular language its worded in.

He dispelled claims the term might have meant voting ‘Eye Zu’ for the NDC presidential candidate and ‘Eye Za’ for the NDC parliamentary candidates.

The 2016 Campaign Coordinator for the NDC who doubles as the party’s National Organiser rendered any such claims of ‘Zu’ for the presidential candidate and ‘Za’ for its parliamentary candidates are misplaced because as at 1992 when the state transitioned once more to democratic rule, the presidential election was held in November while the parliamentary contest took place in December adding the format only changed  to both votes being cast in December afterwards after the New Patriotic Party boycotted an election citing rigging schemes.

He posited that the Western folks had even re-branded the slogan to ‘Wu Ye Mi Zu, Wu Ye Mi Za’.
