A former Deputy Minister of Information, Felix Kwakye Ofosu has lauded the absence of Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament (MP), Sarah Adwoa Safo from Parliament.

According to him, her absence has been more beneficial to the people of Ghana.

Some members of the NPP believe Adwoa Safo is sabotaging the government and making some demands before she returns to parliament.

Maverick NPP MP for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong, has taken on Sarah Adwoa Safo, for her continuous absence from Parliament.

“If you don’t come to parliament and you’re on TikTok dancing, Dome Kwabenya is not for Apostle Kwadwo Safo. She should go and contest on TikTok,” Ken Agyapong charged.

His reference to TikTok follows the absentee MP's constant presence on the social media app -- mostly dancing to gospel songs.

The Dome Kwabenya MP has been absent from Parliament for more than 15 days, triggering calls for her seat to be declared vacant.

The law states that a seat can be declared vacant if an MP fails to show up in the House for 15 days.

Speaking on state-owned GTV on Monday, February 21, 2022, Mr Agyapong accused the Dome Kwabenya MP of twisting the arm of Majority leadership to be made Deputy Majority Leader.

According to him, this is one of the reasons Adwoa Safo has been absent from the House.

“She says she wants to be a deputy majority leader; that woman has failed in life. A whole minister, a cabinet minister, now demanding that she should be made a deputy majority leader before she comes, she should go to hell.”

Mr Agyapong added: “Don’t think I have two kids with her, therefore, I’ll never speak the truth; even at gunpoint, I’ll speak the truth”.

Meanwhile, some believe Adwoa Safo is absent from Parliament because she does not support the E-Levy which the government seems desperate to pass.
