Incumbent Youth Organiser of ruling New Patriotic Party Sammy Awuku has refuted claims that President of the Ghana Football Association GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, funded the NPP in the 2016 elections.

After President Akufo-Addo called for the arrest of Kwesi Nyantakyi on May 22, 2018, it was rumoured that Kwesi Nyantakyi is a close friend of President Akufo-Addo and Kwesi Nyantakyi pumped huge money to ensure the victory of the NPP in the 2016 General elections.

Some communicators of the NDC believes that the NPP is hiding under the pretence of arresting Kwesi Nyantakyi in an attempt to deceive Ghanaians.

However, speaking on PeaceFM’s morning show Kokroko, aspiring National Organizer for the NPP, Sammy Awuku stated categorically that rumours and the assertion by the NDC communicators are false because Kwesi Nyantakyi never funded the NPP.

He explained that he may have given some monetary contributions to some members of the party as an act of gesture towards the political course of the individual but it doesn't mean he finances the party.

“It is not true. Kwesi Nyantakyi did not donate to the NPP as a political party . . . Maybe, he donated to individuals which is allowed but not to the party,” he said.
