Incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Mark Owen Woyongo has blamed his defeat in the just-ended December 7 polls to the failure of the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) to fulfill a number of promises.

Mark Woyongo lost his re-election bid to parliament after polling 17,203 representing 43.89% as against a Former Minister of Energy under the erstwhile Kufuor regime, Joseph Kofi Addah who secured 20,667 representing 52.72%.

In an interview with Ultimate FM, Mr Woyongo said his defeat was as a result of the unfulfilled policies of Mahama-led government.

According to him, the delays in the release of feeding grants, withdrawal of teacher and nursing trainee allowances joined with general economic hardship were some catalysts that caused his downfall.

“There were some of the policies, national in character that cost me the election. Increased in electricity tariffs and the general economic hardship aside the fact my party executives did not work well to seal the victory”, he emphasized.

He also added that “in politics you are either in to lose or win. When you lose you accept it gracefully and move ahead but if it does not go your way, you go licking your wounds”
