Former President and Flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress, (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has cut sod for the construction of a 500-seater ultra-modern sports facility for the youth and people of Bole-Bamboi, and its surrounding communities in the Savannah region.
The 500-seater sports complex is being funded by the NDC Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama and it is expected to be completed before the end of this year.
Mr Mahama was joined by the chiefs and elders of the Bole-Bamboi traditional area for the sod cutting.
Mr Mahama urged the contractors to put in place all the necessary measures and skills to make sure the facility is of a top-notch quality with the highest standard befitting of a sports complex.
The modern sports complex will be facilitated by the Member of Parliament for Bole, Alhaji Yusif Suleman and when completed the facility will contain a football pitch with changing rooms, volleyball and tennis courts and a swimming pool.
“When completed, this will surely be an excellent opportunity to provide the youth with an avenue to develop their sporting skills and talents, keep them healthy, and create entertainment opportunities through the various games and activities in the complex”, the NDC Flagbearer indicated.
The construction work when completed will also create job opportunities for the town’s skilled and unskilled youth.
Mr Mahama indicated that as a social democratic party, the NDC is immutable in its commitment to inclusive growth through investments in health, education, and sports.
“Our sports development programmes will focus on talent development and feed our human development agenda”, Mr Mahama had said.
