Despite denials by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that President John Mahama shared money on his Greater Accra campaign tour, three traders at the Agbogbloshie market in Accra are claiming to have received Ghȼ50 each from the president when he visited the area last  Thursday.

The president was caught in a video sharing what looked like money to crowds during his tour of the area and was heavily criticised for engaging in vote buying.

But in an interview on Joy FM on Thursday, his Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah denied the allegation saying the Mahama could not have shared money because presidents do not carry cash on their trips.

A day after, National Organiser of the NDC and 2016 Campaign Coordinator, Kofi Adams stated that President Mahama was sharing party paraphernalia.

However, in an interview with Accra-based Atinka FM, an egg seller at Agbogbloshie, Rebecca Kamasah, has confirmed that the President indeed gave her money.

According to her, the president called her and gave her Ghȼ50 after some men, who were struggling to catch a glimpse of the President, pushed her, leading to the destruction of her wares.

Another trader, Rahinatu Moro, who sells onion at the market, also confirmed receiving GHC50 following the destruction of her wares as people struggled to catch a glimpse of the president.
