Mahama in South Africa to receive African Political Leader of the Year Award

Former president John Dramani Mahama will is currently in South Africa to receive the 2016 African Political Leader of the Year Award.

Former President Mahama is being awarded for his contributions toward deepening and enriching Ghana’s democracy and his towering status as one of Africa’s best.

According to the organisers of the award, African Leadership Magazine (ALM) the award is aimed at preserving African Leadership Magazine’s tradition of celebrating exemplary leadership as well as individuals who contributed to shaping the global perception of the African continent.

Mr Mahama is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the African Leadership Magazine (ALM) Person of the Year 2016 Awards Programme on the theme, “How can Africa win the progress race?”

Chairman of the International Advisory board of the ALM Awards, Ambassador Joe Beasley, praised Mr Mahama for his achievements during his tenure and the way he conducted himself after being defeated in elections.

“It is gratifying to know that Africa still has leaders like you bestriding the political space. Africa has found in you and leaders like you, the perfect Apostles of Good Governance and Democracy, who would help in spreading the gospel to the rest of the continent", Ambassador Beasley said.
