President John Mahama will likely not participate in this year's edition of the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) organised presidential debate.

The IEA on Tuesday announced their presidential debate programme which included possible face off between candidates of the two main political, the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s John Mahama and the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

But according to the National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams , the party may not participate because the IEA failed to consult the them on the programme.

“IEA cannot just announce a programme, it has not engaged the party on. We are surprised… So if the party has their own programme how are you going to organize it?", he asked.

The NDC Organiser stated that the IEA had various platforms for leaders of all political parties one of which the Chairman of the NDC chairs adding, that the  party expected the IEA to consult their leader before making pronouncements on the debate.
