President John Dramani Mahama has signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill into law, paving the way for the full implementation of the government’s flagship economic policy.

The assent took place on Thursday in a brief ceremony held ahead of the 13th Cabinet meeting at Jubilee House.

The legislation, passed by Parliament on February 6 following days of deliberations, was laid before the House toward the end of 2025 before securing approval.

With the President’s assent, the newly enacted law establishes the 24-Hour Economy Authority as the primary coordinating body responsible for overseeing the nationwide rollout of the policy.

The Authority is expected to collaborate closely with relevant state institutions, private sector actors, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of round-the-clock economic activities across the country.

The 24-hour economy initiative seeks to transform Ghana’s economic structure by promoting continuous production, service delivery, and business operations in key sectors.

Describing the signing as a decisive shift “from strategy to implementation,” President Mahama reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities and stimulating sustainable economic growth.

“Cabinet colleagues, I just appended my signature to give assent to the 24-hour Authority Bill. This Bill, which Ghanaians have been waiting for, was one of our flagship strategies for economic transformation,” he said after signing the Bill.
