The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) has signed a cooperation agreement with Russia’s ruling party, United Russia, aimed at strengthening inter-party relations and expanding political collaboration.
The agreement was signed in St Petersburg on 25 June 2026 during a meeting of the Standing Committee of the “For the Freedom of Nations!” Movement.
The NDC delegation was led by party chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, while United Russia was represented by senior party official Andrei Klimov.
Both parties discussed expanding existing parliamentary and political contacts and agreed to deepen cooperation on issues of mutual interest, particularly within broader international party networks.
The NDC said the engagement forms part of efforts to broaden its international partnerships, while both sides also highlighted the importance of strengthening ties ahead of upcoming Russia–Africa political engagements.
The agreement is expected to promote continued dialogue between the two parties, with a focus on political cooperation and continental engagement.
