The New Patriotic Party will heed the advice of former President John Agyekum Kuffuor to appoint backroom strategists.

Board Chair of the Ghana Ports and Harbor Authority and 2016 campaign manager of the NPP Peter Mac Manu says the advice of President Kuffuor would serve the interest of the party and help retain the NPP government to turn around the fortunes of the country.

John Agyekum Kuffour at the NPP National Delegates Conference in Cape Coast over the weekend asked the governing party to equip the party headquarters with resources that will enable them to strategize for continuous stay in power.

He cautioned without a conscious effort by the party to strategise, it will be moving away from the principles that established it.

"We should employ people who will think for the party in terms of strategising and pay them well to be part of the back room staff but the moment they try to contest for party positions we should sack them, we will need them to be in the room and be thinking for the party," he stressed

Peter Mac Manu in an interview with primenewsghana acknowledged the wisdom in the suggestion, saying the party has already begun the process on a small scale. With the endorsement of the former president, steps will be taken to properly roll it out.
