The family of Ken Ofori-Atta has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of abusing its administrative powers in its investigation of the former finance minister.
In a press release, the family cited four instances of alleged abuse of power by the OSP, including “deliberate suppression and manipulation of evidence,” “violation of Human Rights,” “disregard of judicial proceedings and denial of due process,” and “breach of administrative justice.”

The family claims that the OSP manipulated evidence to procure an Arrest Warrant against Mr. Ofori-Atta, stating that “the OSP has no charge stated against Mr. Ofori-Atta apart from what is stated on the Arrest Warrant as ‘Using Public office for private profit’.”
The family also alleges that the OSP disregarded ongoing proceedings in the Human Rights Court of Ghana, where a case related to the matter is pending, and scheduled to rule on June 18th.
“The OSP has disregarded the ongoing proceedings in the Human Rights Court of Ghana, in which a Ruling is scheduled for 18th June, by contemptuously repeating the declaration of Mr. Ofori-Atta as a Wanted person even though Mr. Ofori-Atta was ready for a Video Recorded Interview while attending to his health to allow the OSP to elicit a Cautioned Statement until he is fit to return to Ghana,” the statement noted.
The family has called for the withdrawal of the INTERPOL Red Notice and has applied for the deletion of the Red Notice.
