Governance Expert, Professor Emmanuel Asiamah contends due to the low literacy levels in the country, the voting public will cast their ballots based on physical infrastructure developments within sight rather than achievements on paper.

In an interview with Radio Ghana, the governance expert observed “in a country like ours that they classify the country as developing country, certainly, issues about infrastructure will be one of the major factors electorates will look at.”

He added “if you look at the literacy level in the country only few can understand what they call economic factors such as GDP, instability of the economy.”

Professor Emmanuel Asiamah urged political parties to use simple, easy to understand terms in pledging to the electorates as it will be the surest way to convince voters to retain or give them power after December’s polls.
