Former Member of Parliament for Mion, Mohammed Abdul Aziz, has said he regrets not getting the Mion constituency chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Abdulai Zakaria, sacked before the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

He said some constituency members warned him to be cautious of the constituency chairman because his actions might lead to the party’s defeat in the elections.

According to the former Mion legislator, he decided to address the issue after the elections because he didn’t want to start any feud among members of the party but little did he know that the actions of the constituency chairman will lead to the defeat of the National Democratic Congress in the parliamentary elections.

Mohammed Abdul Aziz indicated that he was not shocked when he heard that Alhaji Abdulai Zakaria has been suspended by the Northern Regional Executive Committee because he was the main reason why the NDC lost the parliamentary elections in Mion.

He also expressed content over the party’s suspension of the Mion constituency chairman and said it will help unite members of the party and will also encourage members to expose people who engage in activities that will tarnish the name and image of the NDC.

The NDC Northern Executive Committee announced the suspension of the Mion Constituency Chairman on Monday, November 22, 2021.

According to the NDC, the move follows the Regional Disciplinary Committee report finding the chairman guilty of breach of Oath of Office as provided in article 48 (8) of the party’s Constitution.
