Anti-corruption crusader Sydney Casely-Hayford has urged the Minister of Communications to sue the Assin Central MP, if she feels corruption allegations leveled against her are defamatory.

Kennedy Agyapong in a radio burst claimed that Ursula Owusu-Ekuful illegally collected some monies from foreign investors and awarded the contract for the production of National Identification Cards without due process.

But in a statement refuting the claims, the Minister said the allegations are “patently false,” challenging the Assin Central lawmaker to come forth with evidence that corroborates his “outlandish allegations.”

The statement continued that “The falsehoods are clearly born out of ignorance and it is important to clarify that the NIA is not an agency of the Ministry of Communications; that is why the directive was signed by the Chief of Staff in the office of the President,”

Speaking on Citi FM’s News analysis program the Big Issue, the vociferous NPP sympathizer said it is not enough for Ursula Owusu to rebut the allegations. She should resort to court if she feels the need to.

“If Ursula believes that she’s been defamed by Ken Agyapong, she should sue him. If you [Ursula Owusu] are feeling bad about it and you do not like it, do not just issue a statement…,”

In a related development, the CID is probing into corruption allegations by Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as Kwame A-Plus, against President Akufo-Addo’s two Deputy Chiefs of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye, and Abu Jinapor.
