The Supreme Court has dismissed the New Patriotic Party’s lawsuit that seeks to compel the Electoral Commission (EC) to disclose the results of the Special Voting exercise, which is scheduled to take place on December 1.

The ruling of the apex court means that votes cast in the special voting dispensation will be counted along with the ballots cast on Election Day, December 7.
The justices of the Supreme Court noted that the reliefs sought by the plaintiff Dr Kwame Amoako-Tuffuor and two others were inconsistent with the Constitution.
The Justices also indicated that the end of the special voting could not be described as a close of polls hence the ballots cannot be counted.

About 65,000 voters comprising security personnel, electoral officials, journalists, and people who get busy with the elections on Election Day are those who normally take part in the Special Voting exercise.
