Chiefs and residents of Afigya Kwabre South, a district in the Ashanti Region, are agitating against an attempt to maintain the current District Chief Executive (DCE) of the area.

The youth are strongly against alleged moves by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to main Adu Poku Christian for another term.

Some women in Afigya Kwabre South district, who claim affiliation with the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), have threatened to strip naked if President Akufo-Addo nominates the incumbent DCE for the area.

One Alex Kyei, who speaks for the Chiefs and the youth of the area, has described Adu Poku Christian as arrogant.

According to him, the earlier the President rescinded the plan to nominate incumbent DCE, the better for him since he has already been rejected by the masses.

They accuse the DCE of being non-responsive to the plight of the people in the district.

They cite poor road networks, encroachment of school lands, intimidation of residents by the military as some of the bad records of the incumbent DCE.

They allege that the DCE has enriched himself at the expense of the development of the area.

"His mere nomination will take us to the street naked," Mr Kyei said.
