Tensions were high at the venue for the ongoing Ablekuma North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Accra on Monday.

The tension erupted when the Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma North Constituency, Nana Akua Afriyie, was allegedly seen campaigning openly for some of the candidates while voting was underway.

Report reaching Prime News Ghana indicates that the MP allegedly informed delegates who they should vote for while voting was underway.

It took the interventions of some past executives present to calm down tempest as those she was allegedly campaigning against had bent on confronting her.

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) on February 24, 2018, held its constituency executives elections across the country.

The Ablekuma North Constituency was among the few ones that had to be suspended due to litigations.
A court injunction was placed on the election over alleged bloated register. The issue was therefore settled out of court after the parties agreed to organize fresh elections at the polling station level to collate a new register.

A new date was fixed for Monday April 16, 2018, for a constituency elections.

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North Constituency, Nana Akua Afriyie, when contacted on the allegations said she was there to observe, supervise and vote and not to campaign for any candidate.
