Member of Parliament for Essikado Ketan Constituency Joe Ghartey has officially filed his presidential nomination forms.

He filed the forms on Saturday, June 24, becoming the last aspirant to do so.

Addressing his supporters after filing the forms, the former Attorney General expressed confidence that he will be in the final five after the August 26 Special Congress.

He said being the last to file is even a good omen, corroborating an ancient saying, ‘The first shall be the last, and the last shall be the first’.

“We shall take this nation to the next level,” he promised.

“Everything that my hand has touched, by God’s grace, it has been blessed.”

He continued: “When we filed, they told us that we are the last to file. Then, I reminded them of a popular saying, The first shall be the last and the last first.”‘

Joe Ghartey also said he will take his campaign to the doorstep of delegates.

He said his campaign will not see him in cars with music blaring from speakers but he will walk to the 900 who will decide the final five for the November 4 elections.

“Our campaign is called walking and talking – Walkie Talkie…we are not going to make noise in this country.”

He was sure of being among the five after Saturday, August 26.

“There are 900 people who are going to vote but we have to go to those 900 people but be rest assured that, God willing, as nigh as the sun rises and the sun sets, when we vote for the Special Delegates Congress, Joe Ghartey will be among the first five.”

The NPP is expected to begin vetting aspirants on Monday, July 3.
