Supporters of Incumbent Klottey Korle MP, Nii Armah Ashiettey and newly elected National Democratic Congress (NPP)  parliamentary candidate, Dr Zenator Rawlings clashed during a meeting with the Vice President, Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur over banners of the Dr Rawlings which had been used to decorate the venue.

Nii Armah Ashiettey is currently in court challenging the eligibility of the daughter of ex-president Jerry Rawlings. He claimed Dr. Zenator Rawlings is not a registered voter which automatically disqualifies her from the race base on the NDC’s rules and Regulations for the primaries and praying the court to restrain Dr Rawlings from holding herself out as Parliamentary candidate elect for the NDC.

The Vice President was the meeting to find an amicable solution to the impass but the move to unite the two factions by the vice president was thwarted when supporters of Dr. Rawlings decorated the event venue with her banner.

Supporters of the incumbent MP in his presence vowed not to allow the programme to start until the banner of Dr. Zenator Rawlings is removed giving party executives no option than calling off the meeting when the issue turned violent and led to some scuffle between supporters of the two.

Mr. Amissah-Arthur, had to be secretly taken away to avoid being attacked by the angry supporters.

Confirming the incident on Adom FM, constituency treasure, Justice Tetteh,  said, “the supporters were fighting over Zenator’s banner but nothing serious happened like is being exaggerated in the media. We were able to bring the situation under control” .
