The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of eight individuals, including top party officials and members of the Ghana Armed Forces, in a fatal helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6.
In a statement issued by the party's General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC described the incident as a devastating moment, with the deceased described as “exemplary patriots” who served Ghana with “honour, courage, and unwavering dedication.”
Among those who lost their lives in the crash are: Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Hon. Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, former NDC parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, NDC National First Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong, and three military officers — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
“These comrades were on national assignment when the tragic incident occurred,” the statement noted. “Their sudden and tragic departure is an irreplaceable loss to their families, the NDC, the Government, and the entire country.”
The NDC extended its condolences to the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the people of Ghana, vowing to honour the memory of the deceased by upholding their values of patriotism, selflessness, and nation-building.
