The Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei says having received the nomination papers of presidential and parliamentary aspirants, the commission has set to work vetting the candidates to decide whether they are eligible to appear on the ballot.

Madam Osei also stated the information aspirants provided will be legally scrutinized to ascertain if they stand up to the test adding those who will sail through shall have their names on the ballot as candidates to be voted for.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has placed an interlocutory injunction on the EC accepting the filing fees of GH¢50,000 and GH¢10,000 respectively from Presidential and parliamentary candidates in this year’s general election but the EC did accept the nomination papers from the aspirants without the fees, pending the decision of the court although curiously the PPP which had sued the EC over what it termed exorbitant filing charges offered the sum only to request the money be returned.
