The Attorney General is expected to resume the oral examination of embattled businessman, Alfred Woyome, at the Supreme Court today Monday, October 2, 2017.

State Attorneys led by the Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Dame, before the end of the last legal year begun an enquiry into how  Woyome may have used the over 51 million cedis judgment debt paid to him wrongly by the State some six years ago.

The examination also seeks to identify his sources of revenue and properties so the State can recover the monies.

The AG’s department is expected to continue the enquiry before the single Supreme Court Judge, Justice Albert Benin.

Woyome was paid the GHc 51 million after claiming he helped Ghana raise funds to construct stadia for the hosting of the 2008 African Cup of Nations.

However, an Auditor General’s report released in 2010, held that the amount was paid illegally to him.

Subsequently, the Supreme Court in 2014 ordered Woyome to pay back the money, after a former Attorney General, Martin Amidu, challenged the legality of the payments.

Following delays in retrieving the money, Supreme Court judges unanimously granted the Attorney-General clearance to execute the court’s judgment, ordering Woyome to refund the cash to the state.
