Egyptian giants Al Ahly have named Martin Lasarte as the club’s new coach on an 18-month deal.

Lasarte comes in after the departure of Frenchman Patrice Carteron who left his job last month a successful CAF Champions League quest.

Lasarte’s previous jobs including coaching Uruguay giants Nacional, Chile’s Universidad Cataloica and Spain’s Real Sociedad.

“I chose Ahly because it’s a great club and one of the best on the world,” Lasarte said.

“I came here to win everything. We have to work together to achieve our goals. When you work in a very popular team like Ahly you have to make the supporters happy and satisfied, and that never happens except winning titles,” he added.
