André Ayew opened his scoring account for NAC Breda on Sunday as the Dutch side held Feyenoord to a thrilling 3–3 draw in the Eredivisie.

The Ghana captain, who joined the club on a free transfer during the January window, scored with a powerful header late in the first half to put NAC Breda ahead after fellow Ghanaian Kamal Sowah had earlier drawn the hosts level.

Ayew rose above the Feyenoord defence to meet a cross from former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby, guiding his header into the net to give NAC Breda a 3–2 advantage before the break.

The goal marked Ayew’s first for the Dutch club since arriving earlier this year and came in his ninth appearance in the Dutch top flight.

Despite taking the lead, NAC Breda were unable to secure all three points as Japanese striker Ayase Ueda struck later in the contest to ensure Feyenoord left with a share of the spoils.

Ayew’s effort capped an entertaining contest that also saw Sowah find the net in the 22nd minute to cancel out Feyenoord’s early lead.

The experienced forward was replaced in the 79th minute by Juho Talvitie as NAC Breda searched for a decisive goal.

Although the draw extends the club’s encouraging run of form, the result leaves NAC Breda still battling near the bottom of the table, sitting 17th in the 18-team league as they continue their fight to avoid relegation.

For the 36-year-old Ayew, the goal could prove significant beyond club football. His performances in the Netherlands have revived debate about a possible return to the Ghana national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have been drawn in Group L of the tournament alongside England national football team, Croatia national football team and Panama national football team.

While some supporters believe Ayew’s experience could be valuable to the squad, others argue that younger players should be given the opportunity as the Black Stars prepare for the global competition.
