Andre Dede Ayew is the only Ghanaian player to be shortlisted among the 30 players for the African Footballer of the Year when the Glo CAF Awards is held at Abuja in January.

The Black Stars deputy captain who painfully lost the award to Gabon’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last year, would be battling again with some players who have enjoyed an incredible year for club and country.

The likes of Sadio Mane from Senegal, Gervinho from Ivory Coast, Egypt’s Mohammed Salah and English Premier League winner, Riyad Mahrez of Algeria also made it to into the shortlist.

Ayew, who currently plays for West ham after an impressive season with Swansea also played a major role in the Black Star’s qualification to the 2017 AFCON.

Missing out in the list is four-time African Footballer of the Year, Yaya Toure who is struggling to play for Manchester City under new coach Pep Guardiola.
