Armed robbers attack AshantiGold after defeat to Hearts of Oak

AshantiGold Sporting Club was attacked by armed robbers on their way back from Accra at Assin Endwa.

A statement from the club says the robbers shot three bullets at the front bulletproof glass of their team bus but the driver meandered his way through a terrible scene of gunshots.

Fortunately, no individual sustained any injuries as the entire team is currently safe and back home in Obuasi.

"We got attacked by armed robbers on our way back from Accra at Assin Endwa, a statement on Monday read.

"The robbers shot three bullets at the front bulletproof glass as the team driver meandered his way through a terrible scene of gunshots."

"Thankfully, no individual sustained any injuries. The entire team is currently safe in Obuasi."

A brace by Daniel Afriyie Barnieh cancelled Aminu Adams’ goal and won the day for Hearts of Oak despite the resilient defence of AshantiGold who were hoping to at least pick a point from the capital city.
