A mega walk, dubbed “Ashaiman Stand for Peace” is scheduled for Friday December 2, at Ashaiman with thousands of youth expected to participate.

The walk would be held across the streets of Ashaiman in the morning, followed by sporting activities to engage the youth in preaching for peace ahead of the elections.

The event would be held under the auspices of the Ashaiman Divisional Council headed by Nii Annang Adjor, on the theme “We are the Peace we seek”

One of the organizers, Mr. Jesse Antwi-Bosiako said, there would be goodwill messages by notable people in the community after the walk.

“There would be fun games including football, volleyball, tennis, basketball and ludo while trophies would be presented to distinguished groups or teams as well as individuals,” he stated.

Usually, he said the youth are the initiators of several forms of election violence and the walk would help to caution them against such acts.

“We all must be the change we seek in our communities and I urge the youth to come out in their numbers to participate in the event,”Mr. Antwi-Bosiako stated.

He stressed that, “this is not a political platform for campaigns but rather a unity platform for parties to know that they are all Ghanaians despite their political affiliations.”

Everyone he said, would converge at the Ashaiman Newtown Junction at 6am for the walk and called on corporate entities to come on board to support the initiative.
