The Super Falcons had the opportunity to win the game but bottled the chance away as the African Footballer of the Year Assisat Oshoala missed a penalty in the second half.

The South Africans also had decent chances notably Mamelo Makhabane whose free-kick was saved by goalkeeper Oluehi.

However, the champions, who defeated the Banyana in the 1995 and 2000 finals, repeated the feat with a 4-3 win on penalties.
