Azizakpe has emerged winners of this year’s Miksi Asafotufiami Regatta held on Monday at Ada in the Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region.
The Azizakpe team exhibited some great level of determination and strength on the river as they paddled their way to victory against equally good teams along the Volta lake.
They were followed by Adzim and Alorkpem who settled for the second and third positions respectively after a hot final race.
Teams including Tuanikope, Aflive and Solikorpe were also inspirational on the day but had to settle for the fourth, fifth and sixth positions in that order.
In the female event, Fish Mongers Association came first while Young Ladies and No Shaking Ladies settled for the second and third positions respectively.
According to Events Manager at Miksi, Gideon Kodo, the winners received a prize package of products and cash worth GHC5000.
According to him, the event this year received massive patronage and praised the teams and supporters for their efforts.
“It was a very successful event which saw all the teams, both male and female display some great sense of sportsmanship as part of the festival celebrations,” he stated.
As a brand, he said, they are committed to giving back to the society and supporting the celebration of the Ada Asafotufiami 80th Anniversary celebrations was a great platform to exhibit their Corporate Social Responsibility.
The festival was held on the theme, “Peace and Unity as tool for Socio-Economic Transformation of Ada Traditional Area. ”
