Appeals by Russian track and field athletes to be allowed to compete in the Rio Olympics have been denied by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas).
68 Russian athletes together with the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) had hoped a suspension placed on them by the the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for doping would have been lifted.

Some Russians athletes could compete in Rio from August 5 as neutrals if they satisfy certain conditions including agreeing to be repeatedly tested outside their homeland.
Russia was suspended from track and field events by the IAAF in November 2015 following the publication of an independent World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) report that showed a culture of widespread, state-sponsored doping.
