Benni McCarthy was announced as the new head coach of Cape Town City, with the Bafana Bafana legend putting pen to paper on a long-term deal with the club.
Eric Tinkler stepped down from the helm of the Mother City-based club last week, June 08 and it was subsequently revealed that a new head coach will be announced within seven days following Tinkler’s exit.
After just a few days of talks and negotiations, the club officially confirmed today, June 13, that McCarthy will be taking over the reins at the 2016 Telkom Knockout champions.
A Siya source has since revealed to Soccer Laduma that Bafana’s all-time top goal scorer has penned a three-year deal with Chairman John Comitis’ outfit, as he looks to guide the Mother City-based club to success in his first stint as a head coach.
McCarthy is set to hit the ground running with preparations ahead of the new campaign, with the squad expected to return for pre-season in July. Â
