Black Maidens complete double over Senegal to reach 3rd of World Cup qualifiers

The Black Maidens of Ghana on Sunday made light work of the Young Terenga Lionesses of Senegal in the 2nd leg of 2022 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Baba Nuhu's side beat the Young Terenga Lionesses 3-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to complete the double on a 4-0.

It would be recalled the Maidens recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Senegal at the Stade Lat Dior two weeks ago.

Princess Owusu scored the only goal of the match inside 87 minutes to give Ghana a slight advantage ahead of the 2nd leg.

Today, Sunday, March 20 at the Accra Sports Stadium, Ghana left no stone unturned to progress to the 3rd round of the 2022 FIFA Women's World Cup qualifiers. 

Second-half strikes from Captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem, Princess Owusu and Karima Abdulai ensured Ghana eliminated Senegal from the qualifiers.

The Black Maidens are chasing a record 7th straight FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup appearance having finished 3rd at the 2012 edition in Azerbaijan.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is slated for India in October 2022.
