The Black Stars technical team has made a donation to the maternity ward of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital as part of efforts to support new mothers and their babies.

Head coach Otto Addo led the delegation and was accompanied by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku. Also present were Assistant Coaches Desmond Ofei, Kim Lars Björkegren and Alain Ravera, Technical Advisor Winfried Schaefer, Chief of Staff Michael Osekre, and Director of Communications Henry Asante Twum.

On behalf of the technical team and the GFA, Otto Addo made an unspecified donation to assist with the upkeep of mothers and newborns at the facility.

Addressing hospital staff, Addo commended the institution for its dedication to serving the community, particularly vulnerable patients who struggle to afford healthcare.

“Big, big respect for what you have been doing over the last year,” he said. “This won’t be the last time that we look for ways to continuously support you. We really appreciate what this institution is doing for the people here in Accra, especially those who cannot afford a lot of things.”

The technical team is currently in Ghana scouting players in the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted in Canada, Mexico and the United States.

They are also holding meetings with the leadership of the GFA to finalise plans and strategies ahead of the tournament.

As part of their build-up, the Black Stars are scheduled to play Austria and Germany in two international friendlies in March.

The hospital visit highlights the team’s commitment to giving back to the community as they intensify preparations for Ghana’s World Cup campaign.
