Asante Kotoko midfield enforcer, Abdul Fatawu Safiu, has urged his teammates to aim for victory when the Porcupines play against Nkana FC in Zambia on February 23, 2019.

According to the versatile offensive player, the Porcupines’ aim of making it out of group-c of the CAF Confederation Cup would be well propelled if the side can secure at least a draw against the Zabian Super Cup champions at the Nkana Stadium in Wusakili, Kitwe.

Charles Kwablan Akonnor’s Porcupines brought themselves back into contention with a 2-1 win over another Zambian club, Zesco United, in Kumasi on Wednesday to go third in Group-C.

The group was blown wide open after the second round of games with Zesco
United, Al Hilal, Asante Kotoko, and Nkana FC all having three points apiece but separated by goal difference.

Asante Kotokoface Nkana FC next on the fixture list and Fatawu told Kotoko Express on Thursday the team can win there only if the players will make that their aim ahead of the trip to the Southern African country.

“I think we need to remain focused, but with the mentality that we need to win a game away. Our next game is at Nkana FC, and it is important that we put in in our minds that we are going there to win, or at least secure a draw.”

Asked if his desire was achievable, Fatawu, who has two goals in the ongoing campaign, answered in the affirmative as he revealed the way to achieve it.

“It starts with wit our mentality. It has to be positivity and tuned on nothing else but a win or at least a draw. The next thing is that we remain focused, prevent them from playing and also ensure to score first.”
