The woes of the Black Stars have been worsened following a 2-0 defeat to Egypt in their second Group E World Cup qualifier today at Alexandria, Egypt.

Two goals in the dying minutes of each half ensured that the Egyptians have gone on top of the group with six points while Ghana's participation in the 2018 World Cup in Russia is now in doubt as they managed only a point in their two games.

Mohammed Salah gave the Egyptians the lead in the 42 minute through a penalty after Harrison Afful fouled his marker in the box.

The Stars came back strongly in the second half hoping to break through the resolute defense of the Pharoahs but were unable to find the back of the net until the 90th minute when Egypt got their second goal.

Though the Black Stars dominated the game, the defensive set up of Egypt was composed and managed to hold the Stars from creating clear chances and scoring.

Ghana would now have to put in extra effort to qualify while hoping other results would favour them.
