EPL: Sunday harvest for Arsenal as they beat Man United to reclaim 4th spot

Granit Xhaka has scored four league goals in a single season for the first time in his career and his latest strike was responsible for their 2-0 win over Manchester United.

The win is a big boost for Arsenal's top four race as they are now just a point below third-placed Tottenham Hotspur who tumbled against Southampton on Saturday. The Emirates stumble marks Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first stumble domestically since replacing Jose Mourinho.

Xhaka's magic

De Gea was beaten by Xhaka's 12th-minute strike but the goalkeeper would have actually done better were he to wait and see the direction in which the ball was moving. Maitland-Niles and Lacazette played a good combination before the latter found Xhaka in space and outside the box. the Swiss international hit a swerving ball that wrong-footed De Gea before hitting the back of the net for Arsenal's first goal.

Another chance for United could not yield anything meaningful for them when Fred's shot from outside Arsenal's box beat leno but hit the woodwork and slid out in the 19th minute. At this moment, the visitors were not seeing plenty of the ball but any time they created a chance they looked dangerous while Arsenal looked nervous when dealing with the threats.

Rashford and Lukaku had quick chances but he was unable to convert either in the 5oth and 51st minute. Rashford's effort just went wide from close range and that marked the frustration of a player whose form has been sparking recently. For Lukaku, Leno blocked his shot on goal with a feeble touch and the second attempt was blocked as he recovered to have another shot on goal.
