Former Black Stars coach, Claude LeRoy has been appointed as the new Togo national team coach in a three-year deal.
Frenchman LeRoy replaces Belgian Tom Saintfiet, head coach from 2015, who was sacked after poor results.

Togo lie third in their AFCON 2017 group, two points behind leaders Liberia, who they meet in Monrovia in June and his immediate task is to qualify Togo for the tournament in Gabon.

“We need a miracle to qualify for the 2017 Nations Cup, perhaps as the best second-placed team", LeRoy said, according to BBC Sports.

However, Le Roy has the pedigree to turn around Togo’s fortunes.

The 68-year-old LeRoy has worked in Africa for almost 30 years and has coached at a record eight Cup of Nations tournaments guiding Cameroon to the 1988 Nations Cup title and has only failed to reach the quarter-finals once.
