GFA bars AshantiGold, Inter Allies players from travelling abroad over match-fixing allegation

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) through a notice have stated that they will not approve the issuance of any International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and Introductory letter to any Embassy for visas for any of the persons under investigation.

This comes after the alleged match-fixing between AshantiGold and Inter Allies in the Ghana Premier League matchday 34 fixture last Saturday. 

Playing as a guest to AshantiGold at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, the Eleven is One side lost 7-0 against the Miners.

A match that generated controversy about the scoreline and the manner of the goals scored.

In the said match Inter Allies defender Hasmin Musah who came off the bench in the second half scored 2 deliberate own goals within 3 minutes, which the club through a statement condemned the act.

The GFA on Monday issued a statement that they have opened investigations into the said match. 

Another release have been issued where the country's football governing body said until investigations are over players from both teams will not be granted any International Transfer Certificate (ITC). 

"Following the review of the match video, match reports and information received by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) so far, the entire playing body and team officials of AshantiGold SC and Inter Allies FC who featured in the Matchday 34 Ghana Premier League game played in Obuasi on Saturday, July 17, 2021 have been placed under sporting investigation.

The General Public and all Stakeholders are to note that until investigations are over, the Ghana Football Association will not approve the issuance of any International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and Introductory letter to any Embassy for visas for any of the persons under investigation," portions of a statememnt read.
