They meet again…….

The Cranes of Uganda are gradually becoming a thorn in the flesh of the Black Stars as the two will go at each other in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON) in Port Gentil on January 17.

Ghana would start their Group D campaign with Uganda, the team that has made qualification to the World Cup a herculean task after holding the Black Stars to a goalless draw at Tamale early this month.

Interestingly, Ghana would also be playing Egypt in the AFCON as well as in the World Cup qualifications.

Ghana would face Mali five days after playing Uganda before playing their last group game in the Afcon against seven-time African champions and returnees Egypt on January 25 at the Stade de Port-Gentil.

The Black Stars who finished as runners-up in the last edition after losing on penalties to Ivory Coast would be hoping to move a step further by winning the ultimate trophy.

But they are faced with the huge challenge of having to deal with the likes of Mali, Egypt and Uganda to get to the next stage of the competition.

Known for putting up good performances against big opponents, Ghanaians would be hoping the Stars would prove their worth by doing well in the competition.

It would also revive the love for the team which seem to have perished after the World Cup fallout in Brazil and the subsequent bad results.

Avram Grant in the last edition was asked by the Ghana Football Association(GFA) to do well, but obliged to win the 2017 AFCON which would determine whether he is maintained as coach or shown the exit.

Already, many are calling for his sack ahead of the AFCON and it would be disastrous for the Israeli fails to get the expected results at the AFCON.

Admittedly, the group is tough but Ghana is expected to make it through with the level of talents in the team.
