Another federation, the Ghana Mini Golf Federation(GMGF) has been launched in Accra today, to add up to the over 30 already existing federations.

The GMGF would following its launch would organize the first-of-its-kind, Mini Golf League which is scheduled to begin on December 17 to February 5 with 100 mini golfers expected to participate.

According to officials, 24 out of the hundred golfers would make it to international competitions such as the Nations Cup, the World Series as well as the World Adventure Golf Masters.

Launching the federation, Minister of Youth and Sports, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye said the formation of the GMGF, sits well with the overall vision for sports development in Ghana, which is to grow sports from the scratch.

He added that, it would also develop the interest of golf in Ghana as it is simpler and smaller   and could easily be created in schools across the country.

“I would also encourage families to get their children involved and also ask that such mini golf courses are constructed with the help of private people,” he stated.

Currently, there is only one mini golf course in the country located at Marvels at Abelenkpe in Accra and would host the league when it begins.

President of the GMGF, Talal Fatal said Ghana is also the headquarters of the Africa Mini Golf Federation with most of its executives in the country.

He said, they would enroll between 50-100 members as they hope to develop indoor and outdoor golf in the country.

According to him, they would establish their office in Accra and subsequently build branches across the country to promote the sport.

He called on all Ghanaians both young and old to come and board and join the federation as it would be maintained and developed to win laurels for the country.
