Ghana’s Christian Amoah won gold in the 85kg category at the ongoing Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation(CWF) Youth Championship in Penang, Malaysia while Richmond Osarfo also won silver in the 94kg.
Ghana would compete in their last event of the competition on Friday and hopeful to add to the medals currently obtained.
The gold medalist, Amoah expressed delight in wining gold for the country, adding that he trained very hard for the competition and deserved to win.
He is also targeting a gold medal at the next Olympic Games saying “we are currently the future of the sport in the country and would do well to excel.â€
In his part, Osarfo said “I am glad to win silver in my first competition for the nation and looking forward to other events as I have gained the needed experience to win gold in subsequent events.â€
