A Sampson Agyepong strike in the second half salvaged a point for WAFA against Hearts of Oak at Sogakope Red Bull Arena.

The winger's 59th-minute strike cancelled out Kofi Kordzi's opener for the Phobians in matchday 2 of the Ghana Premier League as the two teams played 1-1.

Kofi Kordzi had given Hearts of Oak the lead on Friday afternoon at the Red Bull Arena, where it has been a fortress for the 2020/21 Champions Premier League champions after going winless in their last 7 matches and yet to score.

But the bulky striker's goal in the first half meant Samuel Boadu's charges have broken their goal-scoring drought at the venue since WAFA returned to the top flight in 2015.

However, they failed to hold onto the lead as the Academy lads restored parity in the second half courtesy Sampson Agyepong, with the goal being the youngster's 4th premier league goal in 29 league games for WAFA.

Despite Hearts of Oak's late surge to get the maximum points,  the game ended level.

The result extends Hearts of Oak’s winless start to their title defence while WAFA, who finished third last season, have one point after two games.
